Question about verizon phones?

Okk so ive never bought a phone before, i always get the free ones that come with the 2 year plan, but i want to buy one off of ebay its used and everything but i really like it and its only 25$, but its one of their OLD phones that they dont sell anymore? can i still activate it for my plan even though its one they dont sell anymore?
