Seriously, why did the Rays acquire a crappy reliver, when they could of gotten a big bat?

A lot of times players get better with a change of scenery, but they can also get worse as well. It seems like relief pitcher is a popular need for contending teams this season, so I'm not surprised that the Rays went after a reliever too. Maybe the scouts saw something in him and decided that they can acquire him for a cheap price.
