Sims 3 bringing back a family member when they die!?

OK, so I have this family. THere was a Husband a wife and a few children. Well the father ended up dying (from old age) and so he turned into a ghost. Well I was reading somewhere that he would be a ghost for 4 or 5 days and then he would finally be gone. well I clicked on him and it had the option to send him to the...nether land..or netherworld (y'know?). I clicked that and it told me I would have no control over him ever again. So he disappeared completely! I don't have his ashes because they disappeared as well. So is he deleted off the console or is their still a chance I can resurrect him? and yes I already know how to stop the aging and blah blah blah plz just answer what I asked. If you don't know then don't bother answering. (: I'm only saying this because in past questions people love to answer things you didn't ask them or say "I don't know." I also know that because I wrote this their will be a key few that will answer 'I don't know' on purpose (:
