Do "gangstas" have any idea how stupid they look?

I used to live in SoCal (not northern California, like Stockton) and saw that kind of thing all the time--especially at Six Flags Magic Mountain. I was afraid to take my family there. In some cases at least, it appears that the lack of opportunity kind of leaves them with little alternative, but I agree that they look ridiculous (though they probably don't care what we think).
