On Syriana a boy is electrocuted in a pool of water. Can a person get killed that way?

People get electrocuted when a plugged-in radio or other electric appliance falls into their bath water. It seems to me that if a person were submerged in water, an electric current would flow around and through them, but it would not harm them, unless it were extremely high voltage, like a lightning strike.
