Are golden retrievers good tracking dogs?

My golden retriever won't fetch so i figure he needs a good activity. Are golden retrievers good tracking dogs, i don't need him to go find my deer just I shot or anything. I just want him to be able to find things like toys i hide in the woods. I've seen on the internet the best dogs for that are bloodhounds, german shepherds, collies etc. But i haven't seen golden retriever. I have a Golden Ret., a husky and a mutt. I'm pretty sure its the G.R. because they are hunting dogs and huskies are meant to pull sleds but which one has the most potential for tracking and how would i train him to do it?
